Backdoor

It refers to a type of drawing hand that requires two additional cards to complete a strong hand. To hit a backdoor draw, a player needs to catch specific turn and river cards in succession.

There are two main types of backdoor draws:

• Backdoor Flush Draw: occurs when a player has only one card of a particular suit on the flop, and they need to catch two more consecutive cards of the same suit on the turn and river to complete a flush.
• Backdoor Straight Draw: involves a player having non-consecutive hole cards, and they need to catch two consecutive cards on the turn and river to complete a straight.

• Backdoor Flush Draw: if a player holds one spade in their hole cards 2♥2♥ and the flop includes two spades 2♥2♥2♥, they have a backdoor flush draw as they would need two more spades to complete a flush.
• Backdoor Straight Draw: if a player has 2♥2♥ as hole cards and the flop is 2♥2♥2♥, they have a backdoor straight draw, as they would need a 9 and a jack to complete a straight.
